Jane Austen

Jane Austen was an English novelist known for her witty and insightful portrayals of middle-class life in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. She was born on December 16, 1775, in Steventon, Hampshire, England, and was the seventh of eight children. Austen began writing at a young age and completed her first novel, "Sense and Sensibility," in 1795. Her other works include "Pride and Prejudice," "Mansfield Park," "Emma," "Northanger Abbey," and "Persuasion." Austen's novels are known for their sharp social commentary, complex characters, and romantic plots. She died on July 18, 1817, at the age of 41. Austen's works continue to be popular today and have been adapted into numerous films, television shows, and stage productions.
